Rockchip Releases High Performance and VR-Device Compatible Chip
FREMONT, CA: Rockchip, a provider of consumer electronics services and solutions, announces the release of RK3399, its flagship- high performance, highly scalable and versatile chip.
The RK3399 is the best chip in Rockchip’s product line-up and incorporates the industry’s leading hardware specifications. The RK3399 features a big.LITTLE CPU architecture and Mali-T860MP4 GPU.
The RK3399’s CPU incorporates the big.LITTLE architecture with a dual-core Cortex-A72 ‘big core’ and quad-core Cortex-A53 ‘small core’ which optimizes integer and floating point, memory, and other functions. These improved specifications increase the overall performance and reduces power consumption of the chip.
The RK3399’s GPU includes ARM’s quad-core Mali-T860 graphics processors and integrates bandwidth compression technologies, such as intelligent overlay, Adaptive Scalable Texture Compression (ASTC), domestic pixel storage and other technologies. The new chip has an increased overall performance of 45% when compared to the previous generation.
The Rockchip RK3399 processor also features an integrated dual USB3.0Type-C interfaces that supports audio and video output of USB Type-C based DisplayPort, The chip houses a Dual ISP that processes pixels up to 800MPix/s, thus, supports high-end processing. The MIPI/eDP interface is capable of supporting 1440pdisplay and HDMI2.0 interface supports H.265/H.264/VP9 4K @60fps HD video decoding and display. Built-in PCI-e interface offershigh-speed Wi-Fi and storage expansion based on PCI-e.The chip is compatible with Android, Linux and other operating systems.
The RK3399 is highly compatible and scalable and can be used in Virtual Reality (VR), game box, tablet, and other smart applications.
The RK3399 has a latency of less than 20ms, 90Hz refresh rate, and supports 2K low persistence display, high-precision position tracking systems, super HDR camera technology, super 3D processing, ultra-high-definition H.265/H.264 video decoding making it apt for use with smart VR devices.
The RK3399 can also be used for tablet and game box products as it provides terminals with faster operation speed and better visual effects. By utilizing its efficient and powerful CPU and GPU, the RK3399 provides 4K video playback @60fps10-bit and output capabilities that support H.265/VP9 encoding. These specifications enhance image decoding and provide 3D graphics processing capabilities.
